Testimonies about critical issues

We invited short (5 minute) testimonials about what it is like to be an educational leader highlighting issues which contributors felt should currently be being researched. These were mostly presented in person but with a couple as audio/video presentations.

We enjoyed the following presentations between 10.15-11.00am to stimulate discussion:

  1. Empathy and exhaustion: Challenges of recruitment and supervision in the special school – Tom Milson (pre recorded and available here)
  2. Navigating early steps to leadership – Jennifer Wilson
  3. Reflections on deputy headship – Elizabeth Hidson
  4. The elephant’s not the only thing in the room: prospects for leading professional development when accountability keeps knocking – Rachel Lofthouse (prerecorded and available here)
  5. Reflections on the impact of the PREVENT strategy – Robert Hindle (please find presentation here and word document here)
  6. Leadership and power in difficult circumstances – Mishel Moriah (extended presentation available here)
  7. Leading through an intersectional lens – Victoria Showunmi
